After years of waiting to own a piece of land, 237 farmers have once again reoccupied a portion of the Ocaya Ranch in Barangay Kuya, Maramag, Bukidnon finally awarded to them by the Department of Agrarian Reform under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reform (CARPER) on December 2, 2011.
The 48-hectare portion of t he 820-hectare ranch was earlier awarded to the farmers on February of the same year. But just after three months of tilling, they were forced to vacate the land after the farm guards reportedly threatened them.
