On Pro Elite Women, Australian Sarah Crowley clocked 4:20:15 to outpace Lauren Brandon (USA) who was pver two minutes behind and Lottie Lucas (UAE) three minutes behind the winner.

Close to 1,700 athletes braved the scorching heat of the sun in Davao City as the city’s heat index is reportedly to be above normal these days.

My thermometer measured at least 43 degree Celsius around 2:30pm on Sunday.

Philippine weather bureau reported that the urban heat index for Davao City on March 25 was at 42 and a degree lower at 2pm Sunday.

Crowley admitted that this was the hottest race she had ever experienced.

Meanwhile, organizers announced that the swim portion of the race will be removed from the final results of age-group athletes, and relay teams after the swim course markers were detached from original position.

According to one of the rescue divers, strong seawater current detached the ropelines of the course markers. He admitted that the current was so strong as it almost lossen his diving googles.

But amid the blistering heat of the sun, many Davao City residents lined up on the streets until noontime to witness the final Ironman race in the city.
