On December 4, 2012, Typhoon Pablo (Bopha) devastated communities in the provinces of in many parts of Mindanao. Most of the villages that were heavily hit by wrath of the typhoon were in Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley provinces. Pablo was the strongest typhoon to have hit Mindanao making landfall as Category 5 supertyphoon in Baganga, Davao Oriental on December 4, 2012.
In New Bataan town of Compostela Valley Province, the debris flaw spawned by heavy rains almost wiped out the entire village of Andap leaving at least 400 people dead and 300 others missing.
The wrath of Pablo claimed at least a thousand lives and 800 others remain missing.
